What is the difference between LCD screen and the digitizer?

I have an Lg Vu Plus, and the screen is messed up from dropping a weight on it. I don’t have the money to replace the phone itself. How do I fix it and what is the difference between the two?

Are they both replaceable?

The LCD screen is what displays the picture. The digitizer is what responds to touch for the touch screen. Yes, they are both replaceable. I had to replace my digitizer before, got one off ebay for 14$.
